Feasibility Study on Animal Feed Production from Napier Grass Leaves

  • A feasibility study has been conducted by Leaders Consultancies and Development (www.lcdoman.com).
  • As part of the GreenCoal production project in the Sultanate of Oman, based on large-scale cultivation of elephant grass, and the use of its stems as the primary biomass feedstock for producing GreenCoal, the study aimed to further enhance the economic and environmental value of the initiative by making optimal use of the plant’s leaves to produce high-quality animal feed.
  • The study was designed to achieve full integration between agricultural outputs and manufacturing processes by adopting a zero-waste approach, to ensures maximum utilization of the harvested biomass. While the stems are used to generate clean energy, the leaves are processed into nutrient-rich feed with high protein, energy, and mineral content, meeting the needs of the local livestock sector and reducing dependency on imported animal feed.
  • The conclusion of the study was that the sensitivity analysis for the elephant grass feed production project demonstrates high resilience to market fluctuations. The project can maintain profitability and financial sustainability over the long term, even under challenging economic or operational conditions.
