Who we are

  • The parent company of the Green Coal Group, Green Coal International AB, was incorporated in Stockholm, Sweden, by Carl Gustavsson and Per Ljungstrand. They are both experienced entrepreneurs with proven track records and unique experience from working in the Middle East and Africa
  • On the board, they are joined by former Swedish ambassador to Ethiopia Mr. Jens Odlander and retired Major General of the Swedish Armed Forces Mr. Paul Degerlund

Mr. Carl Gustavsson

Founder, CEO

Mr. Gustavsson holds a MSc in Metallurgy from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. 

His experience ranges from precious mining in Ethiopia, 10 years as entrepreneur in Europe and 10 years industrial BD in Ethiopia, ME & Asia.

Mr. Per Ljungstrand

Founder, General Manager

Mr. Ljungstrand has studied business at London School of Foreign Trade.

Prior to joining Green Coal he has worked over 40 years across Africa in fields such as logistics, start-ups & BD, project implementation & management as well as procurement & marketing strategies. This has given him a unique knowlegde of business in Africa.

Mr. Bo Nordberg

General Counsel

LLB in law from Stockholm University, Sweden

Before joining Green Coal, worked as an attorney and litigator, mainly with construction and consultancy related disputes, and most recently as a partner with Stockholm-based law firm JKN.

Ambassador Jens Odlander

Senior Advisor

Ambassador Odlander holds a BSc in Social Sciences from Stockholm University and a MSc in Economics from London School of Economics.

He is a distinguished diplomat with 11 years of experience as head of delegations, chargé d’affaires and Ambassador in Sudan, Somalia and Ethiopia. Amb. Odlander has been a senior advisor to two prime ministers.

Mr. Örjan Bryggö

Project Director

Mr. Bryggö holds a MSc in Civil Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg.

Prior to joining Green Coal he has gained many years of experience from leading large complex multidisciplinary civil engineering & industrial projects worldwide.

Ret. General Paul Degerlund

Board Member

Ret. General Degerlund holds a degree from the Royal MIlitary Academy of Sweden and the United States Army Command and General Staff College.

He is a retired Major General of the Swedish Armed Forces. His long service includes commander of the Swedish southern command. Since retirement, from being inspector general of the army, Degerlund has held several positions as advisor to the Swedish industry.
